Same old Same old.

The same companies that bought up and dismantled all the local and regional streetcar companies in the 30s are still not getting it that people who live in urban areas should not need cars. So in order to scare people away from utilizing mass transit, they came up with this advertisement.

So according to them, if you are worried about the environment, concerned about peak oil, if your budget doesn't include unlimited gasoline and you choose not to use a car when you don't absolutely need to - then you're a creep or a weirdo. If you don't want your city or county paving every square inch of farmland to supposedly fight "traffic congestion," you're a creep or a weirdo. If you're too poor to actually afford a private automobile, you're a creep or a weirdo.

Let me tell you who the real creeps and weirdos are - the Robber Barons who apparently believe they are ENTITLED to obstruct your transit choices, who feel that they have a right to FORCE you to use their product. They worked diligently in the past to TAKE AWAY your free market choices to utilize mass transit, and I have no doubt they are still doing the same thing now - because in a REAL free market, their product can no longer compete. In fact, it probably never could have competed in urban areas if they hadn't colluded to steal your choices away from you and prevent transportation dollars from going for the public good, into mass transit projects. They are the ones who have lobbied hard to make sure your tax dollars got spent to subsidize their private industry instead of on streetcars and other mass transit. And now they're going to steal your tax dollars, too - and you have no say in the matter.

They destroyed electric mass transit in this country in order to profit off of you, and they're still up to the same old tricks - lobbying congress to bail them out when the free market has declared them unfit to survive. They are immoral and unethical, and all their prattle about "free markets" is just that - empty prattle. They intend to make every effort to keep you enslaved to their products, locked into indentured servitude, by taking resources away from mass transit projects that would benefit your community and instead lining their golden parachutes with it.
