Media feeding you manure and calling it good news.

More than half a million able-bodied adults are losing their jobs every month, and the Associated Press tries to pass this off as good news on Google:

New jobless claims drop more than expected
By CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER (AP) – 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON — The number of newly laid-off workers seeking unemployment benefits fell last week, the government said Thursday, a sign that the job market is making gradual improvement...

No, an improvement would be jobs being CREATED instead of DESTROYED PERMANENTLY.

...First-time claims for jobless benefits dropped to a seasonally adjusted 550,000 for the week ending Aug. 1, down from an upwardly revised figure of 588,000 in the previous week, the Labor Department said.

That was much lower than analysts' estimates of 580,000, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters. And the four-week average of claims, which smooths out fluctuations, dropped to 555,250, its lowest point since late January.

The number of people continuing to claim benefits rose, however, by 69,000 to 6.3 million, after having dropped for three straight weeks — evidence that job openings remain scarce and the unemployed are having difficulty finding new work...

That figure, of course, is low-balled considerably by the government, as we see from the latest real figures:

...When emergency extensions of unemployment are included, the total jobless benefit rolls climbed to a record 9.35 million for the week ending July 18, the most recent period for which figures are available. Congress has added up to 53 extra weeks of benefits on top of the 26 typically provided by the states...

Of course, that figure is low-balled, too, by using exclusionary criteria that in no way matches reality. So the real number of unemployed adults in this country is now no doubt approaching or past 12 million.

There are not 12 million new jobs going to be created this year, next year, or any time in the next 5 years - yet the government has no plans to provide benefits for these people beyond a few months. Small "service economy" businesses, retail and food service jobs are never going to provide living wages for 12 million more people (of course, they never provided living wages in the first place, which is why everyone is up to their eyeballs in debt and unable to keep up with the cost of living - don't forget, wage stagnation is the real cause of this economic crisis).

So where are 12 millions living wage jobs going to come from? Obama's rear end? Nobody is even asking this question - so far all the yak about "job creation" is just more useless crap like Wally-wort and Micky Ds and mowers-r-us. They might conceivable make 12 million of these jobs available if they rounded up all the illegal aliens currently holding them - but that won't make them living wage jobs, now will it?

Where's the great plan to solve this problem, folks? Does anyone really believe that enabling AIG and Goldman Sachs to pay million dollar bonuses to their cronies who helped destroy the manufacturing economy in this country is going to solve anything?

Is there any reality or substance out there? Where's the beef?
